The National Mandate of
RNR-RC Jakar is to coordinate livestock research activities throughout the
country as well as to build up a pool of expertise and information on all
areas of livestock research. Besides being the national coordination
centre for livestock research, RNR-RC Jakar is also entrusted with the
lead role in cardamom, areca nut and ginger research under the horticulture research programme, conifer research under the forestry research
programme and minor cereals under the field crops research programme.

The Regional Mandate of
RNR-RC Jakar is to carry out all RNR research activities within the
East-Central Region comprising of Bumthang, Sarpang, Trongsa and Zhemgang
Dzongkhags. These activities include the adapting and generating of
technologies to be used in extension as well as providing technical
support to the extension sector.
