The Renewable Natural Resources (RNR) research system has undergone both structural and strategic reorganization in last decade to harness science and technology as an important instrument to enhance food production and agricultural growth. Specifically, the integration of research system can be considered as a milestone as it brought in the new shift in the way research was organized. However, the mid-term review of the 8th FYP, other reviews of the MoA and research systems, identified a lack of focus in the Ministry’s development efforts. In February 2003, with the major restructuring of MoA, RNR research was reorganized as Council of Research and Extension (CoRE) to improve the focus of RNR research and extension support. Then in May 2004, CoRE was renamed to Council for RNR Research of Bhutan (CoRRB).
